The Department of Statistics at Korea University was created in the College of Political Science and Economics in 1963 to cultivate expertise in the area of empirical analysis for economic development, a crucial task at the time. There are a number of graduates over the past 50 years, and they have played or are playing major roles as data analysts in various fields, including finance and management.
Our department has pursued a balance statistical theorites and its applications. We will continue this tradition through theoretical research leading to application so as to contribute to the prosperity of our society and the global community.
In the new era of data science, the Department of Statistics is proud to be the epicenter of producing talented pioneers equipped with mathematical thinking and computational abilities. In order to secure such a status, we will be more committed to creative research and education.
